Uma análise do alteamento pretônico à luz das categorias propostas por Labov

Resumo

The article reviews the classification of linguistic phenomena proposed by Labov (2001). It uses as an object of analysis the unstressed vowel elevation in carioca speech data. This phenomenon is traditionally identified as an indicator. The research combines the results of the social variables of Sociolinguistics Variationism with the methodology of the Beliefs and Attitudes studies. The objective is to discuss the problems of conditioning factors and subjective evaluation. The results
indicate that the phenomenon moves between the categories of indicator, marker and stereotype.
