Abstract

In this study we analyse the content of the little tract, above entitled, written by Augustine of Ancona OESA, ca.1270-73-2 April, 1328, in which he discusses three questions, as follows: having the Supreme Ponti passed away, who gets his power; if it stays with someone, how it occurs and, nally, if that power stays with the college of cardinals, can they do everything that a Pope does, exercising his o ce or they can not? Before dealing with them, we will brie y discuss the political importance of Cardinals during the second half of the thirteenth century and the first decades of the fourteenth century, after this we will say something about the author of the opuscule. Finally, due to its importance, we present the translation of this short treatise in Portuguese.

Resumo

Neste estudo analisamos o opúsculo supra intitulado, escrito por Agostinho de Ancona OESA, ca. 1270-73 – 2 abril 1328, no qual ele discute três, questões, a saber: tendo falecido o Sumo Pontí ce, seu poder ca com quem; se permanece com alguém, como isso ocorre e, en m, caso esse poder que com o colégio de cardeais, eles podem fazer ou não tudo o que um Papa faz, ao exercer o seu cargo? Antes de tratá-las, iremos brevemente discorrer sobre o peso político dos cardeais durante a segunda metade do século XIII e as primeiras décadas do século XIV e, a seguir, diremos algo sobre o autor do opúsculo. Por último, em razão de sua importância, apresentamos a tradução do opúsculo.
