Autonomía moral, de la propuesta kantiana a la autonomía en la bioética

Laura Herrero Olivera

Abstract

I would like to propose a reflection about the autonomy concept. The text is ordered in three parts: 1) Autonomy in Kant’s texts: some texts in which autonomy plays a central role are analyzed and other texts are mentioned because this concept does not appear. Secondly we will review autonomy in the Groundwork of the Metaphysics of morals. 2) Taking into account Onora O’Neill studies we will analyze contemporary proposals about autonomy and their differences with autonomy in Kant. 3) In Bioethics autonomy plays a very important role. This autonomy should be taken into account first, when establishing general principles, secondly when this principles need to be applied in action. In this second sense it is autonomy a problematic concept because it is conditioned to subjective requirements.
