A propósito de «Sete anos de pastor...» nos sermoens de Vieira

Resumo

In the oratory works of Father António Vieira (1608-1697), following codes that governed genres like the sermon, the biblical word has particular relevance. The place of poetry in Sacred Scripture was already uncertain and even more debatable its pertinence in the discourse of a preacher. Taking the Sermoens as a corpus, this paper aims to explore the manifold and complex relations that this Jesuit
establishes between the Bible and poetry, particularly that of Camões. Focus will thus be brought to bear on phenomena of intertextuality, reflecting on their meaning in light of questions that serve to frame them, such as the importance of an aesthetic awareness, the historical and cultural value of anauthor, the weight of genealogical hierarchy.
