Philosophie Première (1954): considerações liminares sobre a metafísica de Vladimir Jankélévitch

Abstract

Philosophie Première occupies a central position in the work of Jankélévitch. This book explains the intuitions acting in earlier works, and also introduces themes which are later reviewed: death and creation, the je-ne-sais-quoi and the presque-rien, the instant and the becoming. This text presents a metaphysics that escapes the pitfalls of onto-theo-logy. It aims to surprise, by a metempirical intuition, in the sudden threshold of the instant, the passage and oscillation between being and nothingness, perpetuated by the becoming. The question of “radical origin” – thought of from the category of creation, through the meditation of death and “essences’ nihilisation” – allows us a glimpse into a “wholly-different-order” simultaneously meontological, hyperontical and metalogical. At this level, philosophy truthfully becomes “first”.
