the article proposes to reflect on how the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby was a
famous but also problematic criminal case, because of the lack of a satisfactory outcome of the media sequence it gave rise to. We will see how narrative fiction has tried to bring to this traumatic incident the closing that was missing in it. Through the example of Agatha Christie's novel inspired by this case, Murder on the Orient Express, we will consider how detective fiction can then be the place where a compensatory speech is set up.
