A DESTACADA FUNÇÃO SOCIAL DO ARQUIVO OTOMANO: Hazîne-i Evrak ou Osmanlý Arþivi, Arþiv

Resumo

Resumo: Esta discussão gira, primordialmente, em torno da função social da instituição-arquivo e do seu reconhecimento e significação histórica otomana na Turquia, desempenhando esta instituição funções administrativas e sociais na defesa dos direitos civis. Tecnicamente, a instituição-arquivo inscreve-se, de forma clara, na Arquivística desenvolvida na Europa, Canadá e América Latina, ainda que, politicamente, seja mais flagrante o seu papel de “lugar de memória” do Império Otomano e o seu contributo na metamorfose do Império em “Estado-Nação” laico e moderno através da ação militar e política de Mustafá Kemal Atatürk (1881-1938). Assim, o Osmanlý Arþivi, Arþiv, ou Arquivo Otomano, centralizado e ramificado em duas grandes cidades na Turquia – Ankara e Istambul –,é, aqui, alvo de uma caracterização genérica que visa torná-lo conhecido para o leitor em língua portuguesa, até porque estamos perante uma das instituições arquivísticas mais importantes da Europa e da Ásia em função dos seus elevados padrões de atendimento à pesquisa internacional e à eficiente prestação de serviços públicos que revela ter.

Abstract: This discussion is mainly around the social function of the archive-institution and of its recognition and historical Ottoman relevance in Turkey, taking into account the institution’s role as far as its administrative and social functions in the defense of civil rights are concerned.Technically, the archive-institution can be placed within the scope of the Archive Science developed in Europe, Canada and Latin America, although politically its role as “local of memory” of the Ottoman Empire and its part in the metamorphosis of the Empire into a secular and modern “Nation-State” by means of the political and military action of Mustafá Kemal Atatürk (1881-1938) is more evident. The O OsmanlýArþivi, Arþiv, or Ottoman Archive, Mustafá Kemal Atatürk, which is centralized and branched in two big cities in Turkey – Ankara and Istanbul –, is the target of a generic characterization that will enable Portuguese readers to recognize it as one of the most important archive-institutions in Europe and Asia regarding the high standards of usefulness in what concerns international research and the provision of public services.
